Exciting news! We're thrilled to announce that both Ayrshire Credit Union and Hamilton Credit Union is joining forces with Thistle Credit Union, creating a stronger, more vibrant financial community for everyone.
This merger opens up a world of new benefits for you, both in terms of service and a wider range of financial solutions. This system and branding update is the last step in completing the merger agreed at the two special general meetings held in April/May 2023.
You will see some changes to the offices but our opening times as well as Staff and Volunteers remain the same.
Improved Technology:
Thistle Credit Union boasts a modern, user-friendly platform, allowing you to manage your accounts seamlessly online and through our mobile app. Enjoy features like faster transactions, intuitive interfaces, and 24/7 access to your finances. From the end of January, download the Thistle Credit Union mobile app from the Apple or Google Play Store and use your new number underlined below in the transferring your account section, to active and use your account.

As a combined credit union, we'll have increased resources to provide you with even better service, competitive rates, and greater financial security. Your deposits will still be protected up to £85,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, giving you peace of mind that your savings are safe.

Transferring Your Account:
We've made the transition process as smooth and effortless as possible. Your existing accounts, loans, and standing orders will automatically transfer to Thistle Credit Union. You don't need to lift a finger! This process will begin on Wednesday 24th January 2024 at 9am and will continue until Thursday 25th January 2024. During this time, access to your account will be limited.
Please update your existing standing order with your new reference and everything will continue as before. Alternatively, we can set you up with a direct debit or if you work with one of our payroll partners, you can save directly from your salary.

From the start of February, all loans with the Credit Union will be reported to Equifax as part of our contractual obligations. This means that if you are unpaid or behind on your loan, it will show on your credit file and may impact your ability to get credit. Please contact our Credit Control department to get your account up to date.
Financial Services Compensation Scheme
Like most financial institutions your Savings are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). This scheme is funded by the financial services industry and is free to our membership.
